Use a C-clamp to push the piston back into the bore, making sure the fluid in the master cylinder doesn't overflow. Inspect the caliper for leaks and damage, and also inspect the brake disc. Clean and check the caliper mounting bolts before tightening them to the proper torque specifications. To install the new brake pads, start by installing them on the opposite wheel, then install the wheels and lower the vehicle. Tighten the lug nuts to the specified torque. Add brake fluid to the reservoir and pump the brakes to seat the pads against the disc. Check the fluid level again and test the brakes before driving in traffic, avoiding heavy brake applications until the pads have been seated.
