    Q:
How to Remove and Install Brake Pad on GMC Terrain? Posted by Customer
    A:
Drain the brake fluid reservoir by taking off its cap and emptying about two-third of fluid back into the reservoir after putting the cap back on. Before removing the wheels, turn the lug nuts loose, lift the car up with a jack, and carefully block the wheels at both ends with jackstands. Fix each brake separately, remembering how the finished brake looks by checking it when you work on one assembly at a time. After checking the brake disc thoroughly, tie the caliper up with a piece of wire for support while you work. Remove the inner and outer brake pads. For 2007 or later models, scrape off all old thread-locking material from the caliper bolts' threads, put fresh high-strength thread-locking compound on the bolts, and keep them aside until use. Remove all old thread-locking compound from the bolt holes with the correct tool. Safely hold the bracket-to-pad exposed surface with a hard-bristle brush and clean both the top and bottom pad holding brackets. Before fixing them back, leave them dry and ready for installation. Put on both brake pads, then take out the lower slide pin from the caliper, make it clean, spray high-temperature brake grease, and replace any worn or broken slide pins and boots. Unhook the upper and caliper slide pin, let you wash and oil it, and gently place it again in its position, making sure the boot fits correctly. Slowly place the caliper back over the brake pads without hurting the upper slide pin boot. Insert and tighten the lower mounting bolt at the right torque. Tighten both the caliper mounting bolts until they reach their recommended torque level, and make sure you fasten the wheel nuts just right. Following wheel replacement, depress the brake pedal almost all the way three times, and gradually back off again, making sure the pads grip the disc properly. Also check and top off the brake fluid, if needed. Following about 20 low-speed stops at 30 mph, give your car time to cool down between each stop to make sure the new brake pads are working correctly. Check again that your brakes work well before driving like usual.

    Q:
How do you install the new brake pads for the 2010 Chevrolet Equinox? Posted by Customer
    A:
To install the new brake pads, start by installing the outer pad, followed by the inner pad. Clean and lubricate the slide pins, replacing any damaged or worn ones. Place the caliper back into position, making sure the boot seats properly. Tighten the mounting bolts and lug nuts to the specified torque.
