    Q:
How to remove and install the timing chain cover and oil pump in 5.7L,6.0L,6.2L V8 engine on Cadillac CTS? Posted by Customer
    A:
First, one should turn the two oil pump pick up tube mounting nuts/bolts and then the pick up tube and screen, will drop from the vehicle, and enable you to remove the timing chain cover. Take off the oil pick-up tube-to-main stud retaining nuts and the rest of the oil deflector nuts and the stud that mounsess the oil pick-up tube on the oil pump. For the 6.0L and 6.2L engines, the following measures have to be undertaken; remove the crankshaft oil deflector nuts as well as the deflector. The next step is to remove the oil pump retaining bolts and then slipping the pump off the end of the crankshaft. To inspect, the oil pump cover has to be taken off and the rotors pulled out of the pump body; the components have to be cleaned and thoroughly dried, and while doing this, one has to look for signs of damage, like threads in the bolt holes, and splined surface on crankshaft sprocket. All components are cast integrally with no distinguishable individual parts therefore if any of these parts are scored, scratched or worn the GARD oil pump assembly should be replaced. During installation, it is recommended that the pump is prime with fresh engine oil through the pick-up tube hole with the facilitation of hand turning the pump. Place the oil pump over the end of the crankshaft so that teeth of the crankshaft sprocket fit into the teeth of the oil pump drive gear and fit the pump into its place on the block tightly. Fit in the oil pump mounting bolts and tighten to the recommended torque setting. New O-ring shall be installed and fitted snug onto the oil pump pick-up tube which is screwed on the oil pump as well as on the engine block main studs; the pick-up tube-to-oil pump bolts must be tightened so as to eliminate air intrusion into the oiling circuitry. Last, replace the timing chain cover and the oil pan and do the installation in the reverse of the removal process. Pump in the requisite quantity of oil/coolant, start the engine and look out for stains of oil/coolant on the engine walls; check the oil pressure.

    Q:
How to remove and reinstall the oil pump in an engine in 3.6L V6 engine on Buick Enclave? Posted by Customer
    A:
Remove the timing chains. After noting the installed position, remove the timing chain sprocket from the crankshaft. Remove the oil pump retaining bolts and slide the pump off the end of the crankshaft (Oil pump retaining bolts). Remove the timing chain guide from the oil pump housing then remove the oil pump cover and withdraw the rotors from the pump body. Remove the snap-ring from the side of the pump housing and withdraw the cap, spring and plunger from the oil pump housing. These components are the oil pressure relief valve assembly. Clean the components with solvent, dry them thoroughly and inspect for any obvious damage. Also check the bolt holes for damaged threads and the splined surfaces on the crankshaft sprocket for any apparent damage. If any of the components are scored, scratched or worn, replace the entire oil pump assembly. There are no serviceable parts currently available. If re-using the oil pump, assemble the pressure relief valve components and the rotors to the oil pump housing. Prior to installing the cover, prime the pump by pouring clean motor oil between the rotors. Install the cover and tighten the retaining bolts. Position the oil pump over the end of the crankshaft and align the flats on the crankshaft with the flats on the oil pump drive gear. Make sure the pump is fully seated against the block. Install the oil pump mounting bolts and tighten them to the torque. The remainder of installation is the reverse of removal. Add oil and coolant as necessary. Run the engine and check for oil and coolant leaks. Check the oil pressure.

    Q:
How to remove and reinstall the oil pump and its components in 2.8L,3.0L,3.6L V6 engine on Cadillac CTS? Posted by Customer
    A:
Before the plenum/intake manifold removal the valve covers, timing cover, and the timing chains must be noted to be identified afterwards, then the timing chain sprocket is to be removed from the crankshaft. Third, remove the oil pump retaining bolts and pull the pump off of the end of the crankshaft. For inspection you need to remove timing chain guide from the oil pump housing, then remove this housing and pull out the rotors from the pump body as well as removing the cover of the pump. Remove the snap ring of the side of the pump housing and pull out the cap, spring, plunger which constitutes oil pressure relief valve. With the solvent, clean all the parts and then dry them in a dry area; one should then check for signs of wear and tear, for instance, checking the bolt holes for signs of ruined threads and the splined surfaces on the crankshaft sprocket. Any of the components which are scored, scratched, or are worn shall require the replacement of the oil pump assembly since no separate components are available for replacement. If the oil pump is to be reused, attach the components of the pressure relief valve as well as the rotors onto the manifold of the oil pump and then flood the pump using clean engine oil between the rotors before putting on the cover and tightening the retaining bolts. The position the oil pump over the end of the crankshaft sprocket such away that the teeth on the crankshaft sprocket interlock with those on the oil pump drive gear making sure that the oil pump fits neatly against the block. On the oil pump mounting, bolt replace it with the new one and tighten the bolt as per the company recommended torque value. The rest of the installation proceeds in the opposite sequence to the removal. Other things are to put oil and coolant as required other fluids and start the engine and look for signs of any leakage and the oil pressure.

How to remove and reinstall the oil pump and ensure proper functioning in V6 engine on Chevrolet Camaro? Posted by Customer
    A:
To unbolt and release the plenum and intake manifold, valve covers, the timing chain cover and timing chains you have first orient the component and then pull the timing chain sprocket off of the crankshaft. Next, remove the oil pump retaining bolts and slide the pump right off the crankshaft Uncategorized Comments Off on How To Remove Crankshaft Sprocket How to Install It Regardless of the engine model you have, have someone turn the flywheel as the other end of the pulley and loosen the fastener that holds the sprocket with a socket wrench. Many of the assemblies within the oil pump have no serviceable parts; if the oil pump is disassembled, it cannot be reassembled; it must be replaced, though it requires disassembly for diagnosing the oil pressure or flow problem. If reusing the oil pump, then install the pressure relief valve components and rotors to the housing then pour new clean engine oil into the pump to the recommended level, then install the cover and tighten the retaining bolts. Place the oil pump over the crankshaft in a way that the teeth of the crankshaft sprocket will fit into the slots of the oil pump drive gear and the pump fits tightly to the block of the engine. Number four-Tighten the oil pump mounting bolts and perform the repair in a back-and-forth as it was dismantled. Last but not the least, pour in the oil and the coolant if required and start the engine and check for any signs of leakage and the oil strength.

How to remove and install the timing chain cover and oil pump assembly in V8 engine on Chevrolet Camaro? Posted by Customer
    A:
At first, undo the nut and bolt of the mounting of pick-up tube of oil pump then gently pull down the pick-up tube and screen assembly out of the car, one has to be careful in the removal of the retaining nuts of the oil pick-up tube-to-stud and also the bolt joining the tube with the pump. Afterward, unbolt the remaining crankshaft oil deflector nuts, un-thread the deflector and finally, the oil pump bolt to release the end of the pump on the crankshaft. To perform an inspection the oil pump cover must be removed, and the rotors pulled out of the pump body, after which all the parts must be cleaned with solvent and carefully dried while executing the inspection with attention to the bolt holes and the splined surface on the crankshaft sprocket. If any of the components is scored, scratched or worn, replace the oil pump assembly since no individual parts are available. When installing this pump, start the pump by pouring clean engine oil in the pick-up tube hole as the pump turns. Place the oil pump with its flange over the end of the crankshaft so that the teeth on the crankshaft sprocket will mesh with those on the oil pump drive gear and install the pump firmly to the block. Finally in the oil pump, tighten the bolts that hold the oil pump to specified torque, and replace the worn out oil pump O-ring also the pick-up tube should be properly fastened to the oil pump and the engine block main studs so that the pick-up tube-to-oil pump bolts are tightly fastened free from air streaming into the oiling system. Last, place the timing chain cover and the oil pan, follow the reverse process of the removal, fill the oil and coolant, start the engine and check for leakage and the oil pressure.

    A:
Before reconizing the oil pump assembly, you have to first drain the engine oil and then take off the drivebelt. Yes it is true, that one has to loosen the right-front wheel lug nuts, then proceed to raise the front of the vehicle and support it on jackstands and finally be able to remove the right front wheel. then unbolt the engine front cover, now working at the backside of the engine front cover, turn the oil pump cover screws simultaneously in anti-clockwise manner until all of the screws are loose and then you can take off the cover and both the gears of the oil pump. Make a note of any identifying features on the rotors and pull them out of the pump body and if necessary mark them in the correct position for reuse. It is recommended to clean and dry all of the parts; the rotors must be checked for signs of wear or damage; if any of the components are scored or damaged, the entire oil pump assembly must be replaced. Using a feeler gauge verify the clearances, the components are acceptable; immerse the rotors in clean engine oil; and insert the rotors into pump body correctly orientated with the ID Marks. Take out and if necessary replace the oil pressure relief valve parts from the front cover and then put back in its respective position. Place the rotors into the housing with the inner rotor hub towards the engine front cover in order to be properly installed so they can be securely fastened. Fit the oil pump cover and screws in a slow step by step with the torque prescribed then fit the oil pressure relief valve parts. Last but not the least, put back the engine front cover, add a fresh oil into the engine and put in another new oil filter. Q:
How to remove and reinstall the timing chains and oil pump in 3.0L and 3.6L V6 engine on GMC Terrain? Posted by Customer
    A:
Initially one should mark the position of timing chains and then remove the timing chain sprocket from the crankshaft. Then, take out the oil pump retaining bolts and then gently move the oil pump to the end of the crankshaft. It follows that removal of the timing chain guide off of the oil pump housing together with the oil pump cover also enables pulling out of the rotors off the pump body. Lift off the snap-ring on the side of the pump housing and replace the cap/spring/plunger assembly which is the oil pressure relief valve. Remove any parts from the structure and use solvent to clean them and ensure they are very dry then assess them for visible signs of wear or damages with special regard to the bolt holes on crankshaft sprockets these are prone to developing threaded holes, to identify such damages you have to rotate the crankshaft sprocket while observing the holes to confirm if any of the threads have been stripped. They have to be replaced if they are damaged, scored, or worn, including the gears of the oil pump; no individual parts are available for servicing. If reusing the oil pump, fit the parts of the pressure relief valve and the rotors to the pump housing, and the pump casing and then pour fresh Motor oil into the spaces between the rotors to make it ready for work, fit the final casing then tighten the nuts on the pump. Place the oil pump over the end of the crankshaft and position the flat surfaces of the crankshaft with those in the oil pump, set the pump to the block surface flat firmly. Slip the oil pump mounting bolts and then tighten them to the right torque as recommended by Engine manufacturers. The remaining part of the installation is the mirror process of the removal of the installation. Last but not least, just fill with oil/coolant if required and then start the vehicle and look for signs of oil/coolant leak and also inspect the oil in the pressure gauge.

How to remove and reinstall the oil pump and timing chains in 3.6L V6 engine on Pontiac G6? Posted by Customer
    A:
Take off the timing chain and timing chain sprocket as a unit by removing the crankshaft sprocket bolt and then removing the sprocket, also note the position of the chain when it is installed. Then, undo the oil pump retaining bolts and then shift the pump away from the end of the crankshaft. Remove the timing chain guide put the pump housing in the vice and unbolt the oil pump cover and withdraw the rotors from the pump body. Pull out the circlip from the side of the pump housing and unscrew the cap, the spring as well as the plunger which forms the oil pressure relief valve. It is recommended that these components be cleaned with solvent and dried and that they should also be examined for signs of damage; one will find that the bolt holes of these components often have damaged threads, and the splined surfaces of the crankshaft sprocket will also show signs of having been damaged. If any of the components are scored, scratched, or worn, remove and replace the entire ODP assembly because at this time no replacement parts are available. If reusing the oil pump, install the pressure relief valve components and rotors on the oil pump base of the housing, fill the clearances between the rotors with clean motor oil and then install the cover and tighten the retainers. Place the oil pump over the pin of the crankshaft in such a way that the teeth of the crankshaft sprocket fit into the teeth of the pump's drive gear such that the pump sits properly on the block. This fitting is designed to be as easy as possible with no special tools needed to tighten the oil pump mounting bolts to the required torque. What remains of the installation continues in the reverse order of removal. Last of all put in oil and coolant if required, start the engine and check whether there are any leaks in the oil and coolant and the oil pressure.
