- A:The brake light switch, also known as the Brake Pedal Position Sensor (BPPS), is located on the side of the brake pedal and is held in place by a single bolt and alignment hole. If the brake lights are not working, it is important to first check the fuse. To troubleshoot further, have someone apply the brake pedal while checking for voltage at the taillight housings. If there is no voltage, follow the wiring diagram and inspect all connections and connectors for continuity, as well as ensuring a good chassis ground at the taillight housing. If voltage is present and the ground is good, replace the bulb. If the lights still do not come on after replacing the bulb, consider replacing the taillight housing assembly or bulb housing fixture. If there is no voltage and no obvious wiring issues, it is recommended to consult a qualified repair facility to check the BPPS system for fault codes. The brake light switch on these vehicles is not adjustable, and for replacement, simply unplug the electrical connector, remove the retaining bolt, and slide off the switch from the alignment pin.
