- A:To remove the fuel pump/fuel level sensor, first disconnect the cable from the negative battery terminal and relieve the system fuel pressure. Then, remove the fuel tank and disconnect the EVAP vent line, fuel tank vent line fitting, and fuel supply line quick-connect fittings from the fuel pump/fuel level sensor mounting flange. Using water pump pliers, unscrew the fuel pump/fuel level sensor lock ring and remove the pump assembly, taking care not to damage the fuel level sensor float arm and float. Before installing the pump, inspect the o-ring and replace if necessary. To install, align the marks made on the fuel pump/fuel level sensor flange and tank, and carefully seat the pump flange on the tank, ensuring the float arm and float are not damaged.Posted by GMPartsGiant Specialist

- A:Remove the fuel pump/fuel level sensor and place it on a clean workbench surface. Disconnect the fuel level sensor electrical connector from the fuel pump mounting flange. Disengage the fuel level sensor wiring harness from the molded-in harness guide. Remove the fuel level sensor from the fuel pump module. No further disassembly of the fuel pump module is possible. If any component of the fuel pump module is defective, replace the fuel pump module. To install the fuel level sensor on the fuel pump module, slide the sensor unit into place until you hear a click, then pull on the sensor unit to verify that it's locked into place.
