    Q:
How to remove a front shock absorber on Chevrolet Cobalt? Posted by Customer
    A:
Prior to wheel removal drivers must loosen wheel nuts together with lifting the vehicle and setting it on stable jackstands. The stabilizer bar link must be detached from the strut before proceeding to disconnect the ABS harness from the strut when ABS is present. Mark how the strut relates to the knuckle before you remove the strut-to-knuckle nuts using hammer and punch to loosen the bolts. Gently extract the strut from the steering knuckle with caution while preventing both overstretching of the inner driveaxle CV joint and allowing the steering knuckle to escape outside to protect the brake hose. Visually check for leaks while you remove the strut-to-body nuts that can be found within the engine compartment. Check the strut body for leaky fluid while inspecting for dents, cracks and other damages that might need repair or replacement. Also examine the coil spring for coating chips and cracks and the spring seat for cuts and signs of deterioration or hardness. Any noted issues require you to begin strut disassembly. The strut assembly installation starts by placing it into the fender well while maintaining stud alignment through shock tower holes before securing it with mounting nut(s). Secure the steering knuckle within the strut flange then add both bolts followed by alignment of the marks while tightening the nuts with the recommended torque values. The process includes the reconnection of the brake hose at the strut bracket followed by stabilizer bar link reinstallation to which you can add the ABS speed sensor wiring harness installation if needed. End the installation process by putting on the wheel with lug nuts then lower the vehicle. Tighten both the upper mounting nut(s) according to their specific torque requirements and obtain a wheel alignment check with potential adjustments if required.

    Q:
How do you install the shock absorber of the 2005 Chevrolet Cobalt? Posted by Customer
    A:
To install the shock absorber, follow the reverse steps of removal, using new bolts and tightening them to the specified torque.

    Q:
What steps are required to complete the installation of the new strut for the 2009 Chevrolet HHR? Posted by Customer
    A:
After securing the strut and connecting the steering knuckle, reattach the brake hose to the strut bracket and reconnect the stabilizer bar link. If applicable, install the ABS speed sensor wiring harness to the bracket. Then, install the wheel and lug nuts, lower the vehicle, and tighten the lug nuts to the proper torque. Finally, tighten the upper mounting nut(s) to the specified torque. It is recommended to have the front wheel alignment checked and adjusted if necessary. By following these steps, you can successfully remove and replace the struts in your vehicle's front suspension. Always use caution and the appropriate tools to ensure a safe and proper installation.
