To remove the ignition lock cylinder, start by disconnecting the cable from the negative terminal of the battery. Then, remove the upper and lower steering column covers. Insert the ignition key into the lock cylinder and turn it to the RUN position. Next, insert a pick or small tool into the hole in the top of the lock cylinder housing and push it in to depress the release button. Pull the lock cylinder out of the housing. To install the ignition lock cylinder, ensure that the ignition switch is still in the RUN position. If not, rotate it to the RUN position using a screwdriver or needle-nose pliers. Insert the ignition lock cylinder into the housing, making sure it engages with the switch and clicks into place. Verify that the ignition switch operates correctly in the Off, ACC, Run, and Start positions. To remove the housing and ignition switch, begin by disconnecting the cable from the negative terminal of the battery. Then, remove the upper and lower steering column covers. Remove the steering wheel and both multi-function switches. The wiring does not need to be disconnected, as the switches can be left attached to their respective harnesses. Detach the electrical connectors from the ignition switch. Remove the ignition switch/ignition lock cylinder housing bolt and remove the housing strap. Slide the entire assembly off of the steering column. Finally, remove the ignition switch mounting screws and remove the ignition switch from the housing. For installation, start by installing the switch into the housing and tightening the screws securely. Slide the housing onto the steering column, then install the strap and tighten the bolt securely. The remainder of the installation is the reverse of the removal process.
