GMC 84176675 Shock Absorber

Those units are Electronically controlled LED shock absorbers which are part of the Autoride® system and must be replaced with compatible replacement shock absorbers. First of all, it is necessary to lift the car backward and put it on jack stands under the frame rails, having slackened the bolts of the suspension bracket; also to block the forward wheels in order that the car cannot roll. While this is not necessary, it will improve the access to the shock absorbers especially after removing the rear wheels. If the vehicle is fitted with a ride control system remove the electrical connector from the shock absorber and the air line as well. Place a floor jack underneath the rear axle tube that is closer to the shock absorber which is to be removed. Go further to take out the upper and lower mounting fasteners of the shock absorber, where, in some cases, a small press tool is used to push the stud out of the flange. After stripping off the shock absorber, you will make the necessary installations in the reverse order that was used in stripping; the fasteners should be tightened adequately to the required torque.
