- A:Safely raise and support the vehicle, making sure that the service brakes are properly adjusted. Depress the parking brake pedal two ratchet clicks, loosen the jam nut on the equalizer adjusting nut, and tighten the adjusting nut until the rear wheel can be turned rearward by hand, but not forward. Release the ratchet one click, so that the rear wheel rotates rearward freely and forward with a slight drag. Release the ratchet fully, so that the rear wheel turns freely in either direction.
