- A:Disconnect the cable from the negative battery terminal. Caution: On models equipped with the Theftlock audio system, be sure the lockout feature is turned off before performing any procedure which requires disconnecting the battery. Remove the starter motor. Disconnect the strap from the solenoid to the starter motor terminal. Remove the screws that secure the solenoid to the starter motor. Twist the solenoid in a clockwise direction to disengage the flange from the starter body. To remove the solenoid housing from the starter motor, remove the screws and turn it clockwise.
