Pontiac 25646217 Wiper Arm

In order for the windshield wiper blades to remain effective and last long, it is important to keep the windshield and blades clean as dirt, tree sap, road tar and other contaminants can cause streaking, smearing and blade deterioration. At least once a month one should use commercial glass cleaner to wipe the windshield and afterwards wet rag should be used for cleaning the rubber blades. Do not manually move the wipers across the windshield because this can damage the motor and drive mechanism. With the wiper switch in LOW speed position and ignition switch in ACC position you can inspect or replace the wiper blade elements. When wiper blades are about vertical on the windscreen turn ignition switch OFF. Check on wiper blade elements for cracks, breaks, tears or signs of smearing, streaking or chattering; replace them if necessary. Ozone deterioration typically limits element life to approximately one year. Anco, Trico or polycarbonate are examples of various refill types for vehicles with aftermarket blades. For different types there are different replacement procedures involving release buttons, metal backing strips, tabs or locking devices. While installing it is necessary to ensure that all frame jaws engage with refill since in case of metal blade holder touching the glass during wiper operation it may scratch it.
