How to remove the brake light switch on Cadillac DeVille? Posted by Customer
    A:
A driver's side under-dash cover removal is the first step to access the switch in vehicles built before 2005. Position yourself above the brake pedal bracket to locate the switch at the top. Using your hands to twist it counterclockwise will dismount it from the bracket. Remove the electrical connector from the switch key. Attach electrical connectors to the new switch and depression of the plunger within the clip serves as the installation process before clockwise rotation until the switch becomes resistant to any additional adjustment. Test the brake lights after the installation process is finished through proper verification steps and then return the vehicle to its original condition.

    Q:
Where is the brake light switch located and how do you replace it on Chevrolet Cobalt? Posted by Customer
    A:
The brake light switch is at the top of the brake pedal bracket. To remove the switch, remove the insulator panel from below the knee bolster if equipped. Then, disconnect the electrical connector at the switch and rotate the switch counterclockwise while pulling to remove it. To install the new switch, rotate it clockwise while inserting it into the mounting bracket and connect the electrical connector. Finally, apply the brake pedal, release it, and verify that the brake lights turn off when the pedal is released.

    Q:
How to Inspect and Replace the Brake Light Switch on Oldsmobile Cutlass? Posted by Customer
    A:
The switch is fixed on bracket or flange which extends from the brake pedal support. It should be noted that when the brake pedal is fully released the plunger on the body of the switch should completely 'bottom out'. When the pedal is pressed down the plunger moves and the electrical current flows to the stop lights of the car found at the rear end. To remove a bad switch, turn the electrical coupler off, two couplers if you own a car with a cruise control, then pull the switch from the bracket. After installation, slide the switch into a slot and make sure that it is fully accomodated then operating the brake pedal back and forth to the extreme the switch moves and adjusts for easy operation.
