If on inspection, the flexible mounts have become hard, split, or separated from their metal backing, they must be replaced. This operation may be carried out with the engine/transmission still in the vehicle. To begin, remove the through-bolt and nut. Raise the engine slightly using a hoist or jack with a wood block under the oil pan, then remove the mount and frame bracket assembly from the crossmember. Install the new mount, secure the through-bolt and nut, and tighten all the bolts to the specified torque. For the rear mount, remove the crossmember to mount bolts and then raise the transmission slightly using a jack. Next, remove the mount to transmission bolts, followed by the mount. Install the new mount, lower the transmission, and align the crossmember to mount bolts before tightening all the bolts to the specified torque.
