- Q: How to remove and install the upper and lower intake manifolds in 3.6L V6 engine on 2006 Pontiac G6?A: To get to the upper intake manifold you must first turn the engine off and release the fuel system pressure and disconnect the negative terminal of the battery. Subsequently, require the removal of the engine top cover, as well as the outlet tube, which is located in the air filter housing. Pry at the fuel supply tube and move it away, also unclamp and detach the small coolant air bleed hose from the intake manifold and the coolant of the outlet and then cap the hose and fitting so that it does not spew out coolant. New gaskets must be placed at the cylinder heads and also correctly positioned before the lower intake manifold is put in place, all mounting bolts must be equally tightened to the recommended torque setting. Remove the fuel injectors and the fuel rail and fit new gaskets on the top of the lower intake manifold, fit new upper intake manifold and tighten the bolts in sequence to the torque setting. Last but not least, follow the procedure in reverse and observe the coolant level and put as needed.
