  • Q: How to remove and install the Crankshaft Pulley and front Crankshaft Seal in 3.0L V6 engine on 2006 Saturn Vue?
    A: Before removing the crankshaft assembly it is first necessary to run the cable from the negative side of the battery. Now, you have to slacken the right front wheel lug nuts, lift the car and put it on stands before finally removing the wheel. Then, remove the inner fender splash shield on the passengerside of the car as well step 3 also. Take off the crankshaft pulley bolts while simultaneously engaging the drive belt so as not to allow the engine turn; in case the engine turns, use a particular tool to lock the flywheel. Then, eliminate the drivebelt, weaken the bolts and then pull the balibrator up in order to take it off. Then, remove the timing belt, and by the help of pin spanner, clutch the crankshaft sprocket and afterwards, undo the crankshaft center bolt. Depage the crankshaft sprocket and the seal hub, then the crankshaft front oil seal by an application of a seal puller or screwdriver not to scratch the crankshaft. Tidy up the surrounding region of the seal bore and inspect the surrounding regions for nicks or gouges, and inspect the hub for excessive wear. For installation, the lip of the new seal should be coated with clean engine oil and then driven into the bore with a seal driver or with a deep socket slightly smaller in diameter than the seal i.e. the side that has the lip inserted should face the engine. Apply clean engine oil on the crankshaft seal hub and fit the crankshaft sprocket then tighten the centre bolt to the recommended torque. Last but not the least, do the following as a guide to reinstall the part: reconnect the battery and reverse the above mentioned removal process.
