Buick Century A/C Orifice Tube

Buick Century A/C Orifice Tube serves as the vital gateway that meters liquid refrigerant from the high side into the low side so the cabin stays cool without evaporator freeze up. Inside every Buick cooling loop fitted to the Century, the A/C Orifice Tube acts as a fixed calibrator that holds system pressure, screens out dirt, and triggers the compressor to cycle on or off to match dash settings. Compared with the adjustable expansion valve, the A/C Orifice Tube uses a single precisely sized opening instead of moving parts and sensors, giving the design simplicity and durability. Over the years the brand kept one consistent A/C Orifice Tube style for this model, variations showing up only in placement like a Y shaped junction near the condenser or along the radiator line, so owners do not need to sort through multiple types. When debris clogs the A/C Orifice Tube, pressure readings swing, cooling performance changes between cruising and idling, or frost forms, telling Buick drivers of the Century that a quick clean or swap is due before bigger damage arises.

Each OEM Buick Century A/C Orifice Tube we offer is competitively priced and comes with the assurance of the manufacturer's warranty for the part. Furthermore, we guarantee the speedy delivery of your orders right to your doorstep. Our hassle-free return policy is also in place for your peace of mind.

Buick Century A/C Orifice Tube Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to remove and install an A/C Orifice Tube on Buick Century?
    A:
Properly discharge the air conditioning system into a recovery/recycling machine, raise and support the vehicle, disconnect the fitting, and the liquid line from the condenser outlet, cap the refrigerant lines when opening the system to prevent the entry of dirt and moisture and the loss of refrigerant lubricant, remove the A/C orifice tube using the orifice remover, remove as much of any impacted residue as possible, if the system has a pressure switch near the orifice tube location, it should be removed prior to the next step, carefully apply heat with a heat gun (hair drier) approximately ¼ in. (6mm) from the dimples on the inlet pipe, do not overheat the pipe, while applying heat, use the extractor tool to grip the A/C orifice tube, use a turning motion, along with a push-pull motion, to loosen the impacted A/C orifice tube and remove it, install the A/C orifice tube with the shorter screen end in first, connect the line to the condenser outlet, then tighten, lower the vehicle, evacuate, charge and leak test the system. Metal chips, flakes or silvers found on the A/C orifice tube screen can usually be blown out with shop air once the tube is removed, replace the tube only if one or more of the conditions is noticed such as the plastic frame is broken, the brass A/C orifice tube is damaged or plugged, the screen material is torn, or the screen is plugged with fine or gritty materials. The use of special tools will be needed for this procedure, J-26549-C the orifice tool remover and J-26549-D or equivalent, and an extractor.
