- Q: How to remove and install a rear Sway Bar Kit on Buick Century?A: A simple stabilizer bar is available on late model Regals, bolting to the lower Control Arm on either side. To remove the unit, raise the rear of the vehicle and support it on jackstands, then remove the two nuts from the inner side of the lower control arm on both sides. Be prepared to support the bar and catch the shims used between the bar and the control arm; hold the bar up with one hand or a suitable prop, pull the mounting bolts out from the outside, and remove the bolts and shims on one side before repeating the procedure on the other side to remove the bar. For installation, locate the bar in position with the bolt holes lined up, put the bolts through the control arms and holes in the sway bar from the outside, then slip the shims with the cuts facing downward between the bar and trailing arm on both sides, and install the nuts, tightening them and the bolts to 35 ft. lbs. (47 Nm).
