For BTSI solenoid replacement, access the solenoid by removing the center shifter console panels, unplug the electrical connector, disconnect the solenoid from the shift lever assembly, and reinstall in reverse order. For BTSI cable replacement, applicable only to 2005 and 2006 models, disconnect the cable from the negative battery terminal, remove the console and steering column covers, ensure the ignition key is off, detach the cable from the shifter base and ignition switch lock cylinder housing, and note the routing of the cable. Replace the end fitting on the ignition switch end of the cable, reinstall using a new fitting, snap the cable housing to its bracket, and check the operation by ensuring the shift lever cannot be moved in Park with the key in Lock and that the key cannot be turned to Lock with the key in Run and the shift lever in Neutral.
