  • Q: How to disconnect and remove the IAC valve?
    A: First, disconnect the negative cable from the battery's terminal. Second, take off the engine cover. For 2014 and earlier 4.3L V6 and 5.0L, 5.7L, and 7.4L V8 engines, disconnect the electrical connector from the Idle Control Valve and remove the Idle Control Valve mounting screws. Fourthly, remove the Idle Control Valve together with its O-ring. Fifthly, examine and clean around Idle Control Valve pintle seating surface for Idle Control Valve mounting flange inside throttle body and air passage through throttle body. In case there is a need to thoroughly clean it out one should consider removing it entirely. If you are fitting a new Idle Control Valve then measure how long from tip of pintle valve to Idle Control Valve mounting flange hence adjust accordingly. Then install new O-ring while greasing it with clean engine oil only if necessary. For 4.8L, 5.3L, and 6.0L V8 engines, disconnect the electrical connector from the Idle Control Valve and remove the Idle Control Valve mounting screws first before removing it together with its O-ring (The Car Connection).
