If the Malfunction Indicator Light (MIL) activates after replacing the sensor and starting the engine, drive the vehicle to a dealer for a reset of the intake system learned values using a factory scan tool. For 1.5L engines, the sensor is positioned on the intake manifold adjacent to the throttle body, while in 2.0L engines, it is found in the turbocharger duct just before the throttle body; 2.5L engines do not have this sensor. Begin by removing the engine cover, then locate and disconnect the electrical connector from the MAP sensor. Next, remove the retaining screw for the MAP sensor and take out the sensor. Inspect the O-ring and replace it if it is damaged. Finally, reinstall by reversing the removal steps.
