Chevrolet Metro Starter

The Chevrolet Metro Starter is an important part of the vehicle which helps in converting the electrical energy available in the battery to mechanical energy to start the engine. This is done by an externally mounted solenoid which is connected to the battery, the solenoid engages the starter motor. In the starter there is an armature which rotates due to electromagnetic effect and thus engages the starter drive with the flywheel or the flexplate ring gear of the engine. Chevrolet Metro cars have basically been fitted with electric starters and these are the most popular ones in the market. The solenoid in these starters clutches a drive pinion to the engine flywheel, and such improvements as gear reduction have made the systems more efficient and smaller in size. Whereas standard engines can use original equipment (OE) starters, it is often necessary to install performance starters in high-compression engines that are used in performance cars to prevent problems such as kickback or starter failure.

Each OEM Chevrolet Metro Starter we offer is competitively priced and comes with the assurance of the manufacturer's warranty for the part. Furthermore, we guarantee the speedy delivery of your orders right to your doorstep. Our hassle-free return policy is also in place for your peace of mind.

Chevrolet Metro Starter Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: Is it necessary to raise the Chevrolet Metro to access the starter motor?
A: When fixing the starter on a Geo Metro, start by taking the cable off the battery's negative terminal, then move rearward until you find the starter hiding under the intake manifold just behind the engine block. Then carefully untap and withdraw all electrical cords from their place where they meet the Starter Solenoid terminals. When you need to replace the solenoid, take off both the starter drive housing bolts from the bell housing. Be careful to do this end that points toward the driver. You can take off and replace the starter by cracking loose just two long fasteners that attach the starter to the housing unit but do not need to remove anything else. Finally, installation is the reverse of removal.
