Chevrolet Nova Oil Pump

Chevrolet Nova Oil Pump is a significant component of internal combustion engine which is used to circulate the oil in a pressurized manner. Some of the components it will lubricate and cool include bearings, pistons and the camshaft, it also act as the hydraulic fluid for small actuators. The Chevrolet Nova generally incorporates mechanical oil pump that operates through the crankshaft or the camshaft, which is very steady. Some of models of Chevrolet Nova could have used gear, trochoid or vane oil pump depending on the manufacture year of the vehicle. The oiling system works by pulling the oil from the sump, then filtering it before pumping it round the engine, where pressure of the oil is needed for efficiency. For proper flow of oil to various parts of the car and prevention of clogging of the system, it is important to change the oil and oil filter of the Chevrolet Nova as often as possible so as to maintain good pressure of the oil, hence making the car last for a very long time.

Each OEM Chevrolet Nova Oil Pump we offer is competitively priced and comes with the assurance of the manufacturer's warranty for the part. Furthermore, we guarantee the speedy delivery of your orders right to your doorstep. Our hassle-free return policy is also in place for your peace of mind.

Chevrolet Nova Oil Pump Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to remove the Oil Pan and Oil pump on Chevrolet Nova?
A: Disconnect the battery ground cable and remove the distributor cap for safety. Remove the fan shroud retaining bolts. For big-block VB engines, place a piece of heavy cardboard between the radiator and fan to prevent contact when raising the engine. Disconnect the exhaust pipes or crossover pipes and drain the engine oil. If an automatic transmission is fitted, remove the converter housing under the pan and splash shield. On pre-1975 models, disconnect the steering idler lever at the frame and swing the linkage down clear of the oil pan. Rotate the crankshaft until the timing mark on the torsional damper is at the 6 o'clock position. For all vehicles except the 350 cu in. and big-block VB with automatic transmission, disconnect the starter brace at the starter, remove the inboard starter bolt, loosen the outboard one, and swing the starter outboard. Remove both front engine mount through-bolts. Using suitable jacks and wooden blocks positioned beneath the torsional damper, raise the engine until 3-inch wooden spacers can be inserted at the engine mounts, then lower the engine onto the spacers. Remove the oil pan retaining bolts and the oil pan, tapping it sharply with a soft-faced mallet or cutting around the joint with a thin sharp knife if it is stuck, taking care not to pry against the crankcase to avoid irreparable distortion. Where applicable, remove the oil pan baffle and then remove the oil pump and screen assembly along with the extension shaft.
