- Q: How to remove and reinstall the console box and Shift Cable on Chevrolet Tracker?A:To release the console box, you will need to unscrew the console box on the front side and remove the rear clips and then pull the box up. Next, four bolts fixing the manual selector to the floor has to be unbolted and the unit has to lifted. Pull the coil and remove the end clip with the washer and the outer cable E-ring from the selector assembly. Lift the car and support it on jack stands and thereafter unbolt the lock nut on the cable end at the transmission moving the switch till a 'click' is heard before tightening the bolt. To remove the cable from the manual select lever pull down the lever to disconnect the cable then to remove the E-ring from the shift cable bracket and pull the cable from the vehicle. For installation the following process should be in reverse on the removal process, while align the cable before reinstallation of the console box, and test the vehicle to start only in Park and Neutral mode.
