Take the negative battery cable off its connection. Take out the transfer case shift lever from within the vehicle. Remove the transmission shift lever. Pull all fluid out from the transmission/transfer case system. Detach the breather hose from its clamp where the cylinder head ends. Unplug the wiring harness from its hold at the back of the intake manifold to fully release it. Before you uninstall the crossmember, follow the standard procedures, with the important extra step of working on the transmission/transfer case unit for Sidekick, X-90, Vitara, and Tracker cars. To install, perform all required steps and skip any ones that aren't needed. Secure the breather hose to where it belongs on the clamp at the rear of the cylinder head. Secure the wiring harness clamp at the intake manifold's back end to the wiring harness. Recheck that every wire, hose, and speedometer cable is properly connected. Also see if the transmission/transfer case unit contains enough lubricant before letting the vehicle down slowly. First, reconnect the car's negative battery source, drive the car to test everything works correctly, and look for fluid leaks.
