To replace the shock absorber on a vehicle, start by blocking the front wheels and raising the rear of the vehicle with jackstands. Remove the wheel and support the rear lower
Control Arm with a floor jack. Then, remove the shock absorber upper mounting nut and bolt, followed by the lower nut and bolt. Once the shock absorber is removed, installation is the reverse of removal. Raise the lower control arm with a floor jack to simulate normal ride height and tighten the fasteners to the proper torque specifications. Finally, install the wheel and lug nuts, lower the vehicle, and tighten the lug nuts to the specified torque.
