GMC Sierra Intake Manifold
The GMC Sierra Intake Manifold allows fresh air or an air-fuel mixture to make its way to every cylinder. This directly improves power and smoothness. The Intake Manifold of the earlier carbureted or TBI version of the truck mixed fuel with air within the runners. The later multiport injection setups have an Intake Manifold that carries mainly air because the individual injectors add fuel right at each port. More recently, direct injected engines have taken things a step further to essentially execute a "clean air" intake into the combustion chamber, eliminating any dirty, hot gases from the Intake Manifold. This led to sharper combustion, making it more efficient. As the years rolled by, the GMC Sierra switched from heavy cast iron or aluminum to lightweight composite plastic, shaving weight off the top and keeping the charge cooler. Even so, gasketed joints, sensor bosses, and in some cases, coolant passages are still important inclusions. Some V-layout engine designs have an upper and lower halves closure design that effectively prevents vacuum leaks causing rough idle. Some trims gained variable length technology, the fifth Intake Manifold style that alters runner length to trade low-end torque for high rpm power. This gives the GMC Sierra a degree of flexibility in the city and on the highway.

- Q: How to remove the intake manifold on 4.3L V6 engine on GMC Sierra?A:To start with, disconnect the cable from the battery's negative terminal prior to eliminating the intake manifold. Also, drain coolant and remove ignition coil as well as EVAP canister tube. In addition, sever heater hoses; throttle body wiring, and numerous electrical connectors. Moreover, get rid of PCV valve hose; power brake booster hose, and radiator hose. Furthermore, drop water pump intake hose together with drivebelt. And then, release power steering pump bracket nut and bolts. Finally, shift power steering pump bracket forward in order to reach the bolt at front of intake manifold.
