  A: When servicing an oxygen sensor, exercise caution. Oxygen sensors have a permanently attached pigtail and electrical connector that should not be damaged or removed. Keep grease, dirt, and contaminants away from the electrical connector and sensor. Avoid using cleaning solvents as they can cause damage. Handle sensors delicately and avoid dropping them. Apply anti-seize compound during installation, unless it's a new sensor with compound already applied. Install the silicone boot correctly to prevent melting. Removing the upstream sensor may require removing the engine cover or raising the vehicle on jackstands. Disconnect the upstream sensor's electrical connector before removal.
