GMC Terrain Knock Sensor Parts Questions & Answers

  • Q: How do you remove the knock sensor on Chevrolet Equinox,GMC Terrain and Pontiac Torrent?
A: To remove the knock sensor, start by disconnecting the cable from the negative battery terminal. Then, raise the vehicle and support it securely on jackstands. If you're working on a 3.0L or 3.6L V6 model, remove the starter motor. For 2013 and later 3.6L models, the left-side knock sensor is located between the oil filter and the starter motor. If you're removing a knock sensor from the rear of the engine, remove the right Catalytic Converter. Next, disconnect the knock sensor electrical connector. Finally, unscrew the knock sensor retaining bolt and detach the sensor from the engine block. To install the knock sensor, simply reverse the removal steps and be sure to tighten the bolt to the specified torque.
