This procedure applies only to 1997 and later models with rear disc brakes (except old). Begin by loosening the rear wheel lug nuts, raising the rear of the vehicle, and securely supporting it on jackstands before removing the wheels. Next, remove the brake caliper and the
Brake Disc. Disconnect the
Parking Brake Cable from the bracket and the actuator lever, then unbolt the parking brake cable bracket. Proceed to remove the rear hub and bearing assembly, followed by the parking brake actuator and the parking brake shoe. When installing the new shoe and lining assembly, turn the adjuster screw until the shoe lining just drags on the braking surface inside the disc, then remove the disc and back off the adjuster screw until the shoe lining doesn't drag when the disc is installed and turned. Installation is otherwise the reverse of the removal procedure, ensuring to tighten the hub and bearing assembly bolts, the caliper mounting bolts, and the wheel lug nuts to the specified torque.
