Pontiac Grand Prix Turbocharger

Pontiac Grand Prix Turbocharger is one essential part that boosts power in an engine through the injection of more compressed air to the combustion chamber to boost the general performance. The Turbochargers are of the exhaust gas variety different from the typical superchargers; the system works through conversion of energy within the exhaust gases to pressurized air facilitating engine enhancement. Despite this, they are subjected to lag due to pressure buildup though modifications like twin-scroll and variable-geometry turbos are in the pipeline. Also, electrically-assisted turbos (E-turbos) incorporate use of electric motors which help increase responsiveness and emissions. Turbocharging is used in petrol as well as diesel engines and key players in this market include those such as Garrett Motion and BorgWarner.

Each OEM Pontiac Grand Prix Turbocharger we offer is competitively priced and comes with the assurance of the manufacturer's warranty for the part. Furthermore, we guarantee the speedy delivery of your orders right to your doorstep. Our hassle-free return policy is also in place for your peace of mind.

Pontiac Grand Prix Turbocharger Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to visually inspect and troubleshoot a turbocharger on Pontiac Grand Prix?
A: Every turbocharger has its own noise level when operating. If the noise level changes, suspect a problem. If the sound of the turbocharger goes up and down in pitch, check for heavy dirt buildup in the compressor housing and on the compressor wheel, or for an air inlet restriction. If the noise level is a high pitch or whistling sound, look for an inlet air or exhaust gas leak. With the engine off and the turbocharger stopped, make a visual inspection of the turbocharger and components. Check for loose duct connections from the air cleaner to the turbocharger. Be sure the cross-over duct from the turbocharger to intake system is not loose. Visually check the wheels of the turbocharger for damage from foreign objects. Look for evidence of wheel-to-housing contact. Be sure the shaft rotates freely. Rotating stiffness could indicate the presence of sludged oil or coking (hardened oil deposits) from overheating. Push in on one of the shaft wheels while turning it. Be sure the wheels turn freely without contacting the housings, the backplate or the shroud. Be sure the exhaust manifold has no loose connections or cracks. Check the oil drain line for any restrictions. Visually inspect the actuator and wasteate linkage for damage. Check the hose from the throttle bodyto wastegate solenoid and from the wastegate solenoid to actuator assembly. Using a pump, apply 3.5 to 4.5 psi to the actuator assembly. The actuator rod end should move 1/64 inch to actuate the wastegate linkage. If not, replace the actuator assembly and recheck. Remove test equipment and reconnect the hose.
