How to remove and install a door Side View Mirrors on Cadillac ElDorado? Posted by Customer
    A:
To remove the mirror, unplug the negative battery terminal first, and then you will have to take off the door trim panel, and then disconnect the connector. If necessary, remove such parts as trim plate and foam sound insulator for the further work. Third, take off all three of the mounting nuts and the mirror-to reach it, take off the black plastic cap under the door weatherstrip in order to get to the forward nut. For installation, place the mirror near the door and screw into the mounting nuts making sure that it is tightened to clockwise 54 inch lbs. (6 Nm). Put back the black plastic cap under the weatherstrip, connect the wiring connector, and if required one should replace the foam sound insulator as well as the mirror trim plate. Last but not the least, replace the door trim panel and bring back the negative terminal of the battery to life.

    Q:
How to remove and install a door side view mirrors assembly on Chevrolet Beretta? Posted by Customer
    A:
Remove the door trim panel, then take out the retaining screws that hold the mirror escutcheon in place, which are two Phillips head screws. Pull the escutcheon down and away from the door frame to release it from the clip. For manual mirrors, loosen the Allen screw that secures the control on the escutcheon, as this screw must be removed to detach the control cable. For power mirrors, unplug the electrical connector. After removing the escutcheon, take off the three nuts and lift the mirror assembly away. Installation follows the reverse order of removal.

    Q:
How do side view mirrors operate and what steps should be taken if they malfunction on Saturn LS1? Posted by Customer
    A:
Most electric rear view mirrors use two motors to move the glass; one for up and down adjustments and one for left-right adjustments. The control switch has a selector portion that sends voltage to the left or right side mirror. With the ignition ON but the engine OFF, roll down the windows and operate the mirror control switch through all functions (left-right and up-down) for both the left and right side mirrors. Listen carefully for the sound of the electric motors running in the mirrors. If the motors can be heard but the mirror glass doesn't move, there's a problem with the drive mechanism inside the mirror. If the mirrors do not operate and no sound comes from the mirrors, check the fuse. If the fuse is OK, remove the mirror control switch and have the switch continuity checked by a dealership service department or other qualified automobile repair facility. Make sure the mirror is properly grounded. If the mirror still doesn't work, remove the mirror and check the wires at the mirror for voltage. If there's no voltage in each switch position, check the circuit between the mirror and control switch for opens and shorts. If there's voltage, remove the mirror and test it off the vehicle with jumper wires, replacing the mirror if it fails this test.

What are the general steps to remove and install standard, manual remote, or electric remote mirrors for the 1987 Buick Century? Posted by Customer
    A:
The general steps are as follows: 1. Remove the door trim panel and inner panel water deflector. 2. Pull out the front part of the glass run weatherstrip with the glass in the down position. 3. Remove the attaching nuts from the mirror base studs and remove the mirror for standard mirrors. 4. For manual remote mirrors, remove the mirror remote control escutcheons and the door trim panel, and disconnect the inner panel water deflector. 5. Right-side remote mirrors may require detaching part of the instrument panel. 6. Remove the attaching bolts and screws from the front glass run channel lower retainer to filler, rotate the retainer rearward, and remove the noise control patch to access the screw at the belt and remove it. 7. Remove the filler attaching screws at the top front of the window frame and then remove the mirror and filler from the door. 8. For electric remote mirrors, disconnect the negative battery cable, and similarly, remove the mirror remote control escutcheons, door trim panel, inner panel water deflector, and the electrical connector for the mirror. 9. Right-side remote mirrors may also require detaching part of the instrument panel.
