Q:
How to Headlight Removal and Installation and Aiming for Buick Century,Regal? Posted by Customer
A:
To remove a sealed beam type headlight, first remove the headlight bezel (outer trim around seal beam), then remove the headlight bulb retaining ring. To install, plug the new seal beam into the electrical connector, hold the seal beam in place and install the retaining ring, then install the headlight bezel. For non-sealed beam type headlights, open the hood, turn the bulb assembly counterclockwise 1/5turn, pressing in firmly, until the flanges align with the slots in the retainer ring, pull out the bulb assembly, disconnect the bulb base from the harness by lifting the plastic locking tab, snap a new bulb into the wiring harness, install the bulb assembly by putting the small tab in the small notch in the retainer ring, and turn the bulb assembly 1/6turn clockwise to lock it in place. To aim the headlights, verify the tires are at their proper inflation pressure, clean the head lamp lenses, position the vehicle on a level surface facing a flat wall 25 ft. away, measure and record the distance from the floor to the center of the head lamp, place a strip of tape across the wall at this same height, place strips of tape on the wall, perpendicular to the first measurement, indicating the vehicle center line and the center-line of both head lamps, rock the vehicle side-to-side a few times to allow the suspension to stabilize, and turn the lights on, adjust the head lamps to achieve a high intensity pattern.

Q:
How to replace a headlight for Oldsmobile Cutlass? Posted by Customer
A:
Whenever replacing the headlight, avoid turning the spring-loaded adjusting screws. Start by removing the headlight bezel screws and the decorative bezel. If applicable, use a cotter pin removal tool to unhook the spring from the retaining ring. Then, remove the retaining ring screws and withdraw the ring while supporting the light. Slightly pull the headlight unit outward and disconnect the electrical connector from the rear of the light. Remove the old light from the vehicle. Position the new unit close enough to connect the electrical connector, ensuring that the numbers molded into the lens are at the top. Install the retaining ring with its mounting screws and spring. Finally, install the decorative bezel and check for proper operation. Remember to adjust the headlight aim after installing a new headlight.
