For early models of Cadillac DeVille, Eldorado, Seville, and Fleetwood, begin by disabling the Supplemental Restraint System (SRS). Remove the appropriate sound insulator and detach the yellow 2-way connector at the steering column base. Remove the steering wheel, ensuring the ignition switch is in the LOCK position. Remove the SIR coil assembly retaining ring and the coil assembly. Remove the wave washer and the shaft lock retaining ring using the specified tools. Take out the shaft lock, turn signal canceling cam assembly, upper bearing spring, upper bearing inner race seat, and inner race. On certain models, remove the multi-function turn signal lever, hazard warning switch knob, and signal switch arm. Then, remove the turn signal switch, wiring protector, and gently pull the wire harness through the column. To install the turn signal switch, route the harness through the column, attach the electrical connector, position the switch, and tighten retaining screws. Reassemble any removed components, and re-enable the SIR system. For late models of DeVille, Eldorado, and Fleetwood, disable the SIR system, remove the inflator module and steering wheel, disconnect the battery, and proceed to remove the SIR coil assembly, wave washer, shaft lock retaining ring, shaft lock, turn signal canceling cam assembly, upper bearing components, and signal switch. Detach the turn signal switch connector and remove the wiring protector, gently pulling the wire harness through the steering column. To install, feed the turn signal switch assembly wiring harness through the column, attach the switch connector to the bulkhead connector, install the turn signal switch, and tighten the screws. Reassemble the signal switch arm, hazard knob assembly, and other components. Temporarily install a new shaft lock bearing retainer using a specified tool. Ensure proper alignment of the steering shaft, then install the wave washer, center the coil assembly hub, seat the coil assembly, and attach the coil assembly retaining ring. Install the wiring protector and remaining components in reverse order, and enable the SIR system as per the provided instructions. For Seville models, disconnect the negative battery cable, disable the SIR system, remove the steering wheel, knee bolster, and shrouds. Remove nuts securing the steering column, lower the column, and remove the tilt handle lever. Take out the wire harness straps and wire harness assembly from the steering column tilt head assembly. Then, follow the reverse order to reassemble the components.
