To remove the axleshaft and oil seal, use a bearing extractor or custom tool. After removing the bearing, clean its recess. Drive in the new bearing using tubing against its outer race. To remove the axleshaft and oil seal, you will first need a bearing puller. Attach the puller to the slide hammer, the bearing can be extracted from the axle housing. After removing the bearing, the recess should be cleaned out. The new bearing can then be installed using a bearing installer or a piece of pipe against the outer bearing race. Ensure that the bearing is tapped in fully and that the numbers are visible from the outer end of the axle housing, and then install a new oil seal before reattaching the axleshaft.

Thoroughly pack the bearing with fresh, high-temperature wheel bearing grease before installation, and apply a thin coating of fresh grease to the new inner bearing seal lip.

Slightly pull the hub/disc assembly out and push it back to facilitate the removal of the outer bearing. Subsequently, detach the hub/disc assembly from the spindle and use a screwdriver to pry out the seal from the rear of the hub, taking note of its installation.

While the vehicle is securely supported on jack stands, you can inspect front wheel bearings by spinning the wheel and checking for noise, rolling resistance, or excessive free play.

Pry out the inner bearing lip seal with a screwdriver, noting the direction of installation, and remove the inner bearing from the hub, again noting its installation.

Ensure the new bearing is lubricated with gear lubricant and tapped into the full depth of its recess, with the bearing numbers visible from the outer end of the casing.

Subsequently, use high-temperature front wheel bearing grease to pack the bearings and apply a thin coat of grease to designated spindle areas. Add grease inboard of each bearing race inside the hub, forming a dam with your finger to contain excess grease.

The front wheel bearings should be checked whenever the front wheels are raised for any reason.

After removing the outer bearing, proceed to remove the inner wheel bearing, clean all components thoroughly with solvent, and meticulously inspect the bearings and races for damage.

If there is damage to the bearing races, replace any defective bearing races at a machine shop if necessary, ensuring that old bearings are not installed on new races.

A new oil seal should be installed.
