- A:To remove the fuel tank, start by removing the fuel tank filler cap to relieve pressure. Then, relieve the fuel system pressure and disconnect the cable from the negative battery terminal. Next, raise the rear of the vehicle and support it securely on jackstands. Remove the rear section of the exhaust system and, if applicable, the driveshaft on AWD models. Clean around all of the vent hoses, squeeze the tabs, and pull the connections apart carefully. Disconnect the filler hose, fuel hose(s), and EVAP hoses from the tank, catching any fuel spillage with rags and disposing of them properly. Disconnect the wiring harnesses from the fuel tank and support the tank securely. Remove the fuel tank retaining strap bolts and lower the tank carefully. To install the fuel tank, reverse the removal steps, ensuring that the fuel tank strap bolts are tightened securely.
