This system includes a charcoal-filled canister and various connecting lines that link the canister to the fuel tank, throttle body, and outside air. The canister is typically located beneath the vehicle, adjacent to the fuel filter. Fuel vapors are collected from the fuel tank, throttle body, and intake manifold and stored in the canister during engine inactivity. When the engine operates, these stored vapors are purged from the canister by intake airflow and consumed during combustion.
