Q:
How do you remove Canister Purge Valves and Vapor Canister on Chevrolet Avalanche,Silverado,Suburban,Tahoe,GMC Sierra,Yukon,Yukon Denali and Yukon XL? Posted by Customer
A:
To remove the EVAP canister purge solenoid on a V6 model, start by removing the air intake duct and disconnecting the electrical connector and EVAP purge line quick-connect fitting from the solenoid. Then, remove the mounting nut and the solenoid itself. For a V8 model, follow the same steps but also cap both EVAP purge lines before disconnecting the inlet purge line quick-connect fitting. To remove the EVAP canister vent solenoid, disconnect the electrical connector and quick-connect fittings from the solenoid and remove it from its mounting bracket. To remove the EVAP canister, label and disconnect all EVAP hoses connected to it, remove the mounting nut, and remove the canister from its bracket. Finally, to remove the fuel tank pressure sensor, remove the fuel tank and the sensor from the fuel pump/fuel level sending unit mounting flange. Installation for all components is the reverse of removal.

Q:
How do I remove the EVAP canister purge solenoid and Canister for Chevrolet Cobalt,HHR and Saturn ION? Posted by Customer
A:
To remove the EVAP canister purge solenoid, start by turning the ignition key off and locating the solenoid. On 2008 and later 2.0L turbocharged engines, it is located by the oil filler cap, while on other models, it is at the flywheel end of the cylinder head. Disconnect the solenoid's electrical connector and the inlet and outlet purge line fittings, capping the lines to prevent dirt and moisture from entering the EVAP system. Remove the mounting bracket bolt and separate the solenoid from its bracket. For the EVAP canister vent solenoid, raise the rear of the vehicle and support it securely on jackstands. Disconnect the electrical connector and remove the mounting bolt at the rear of the canister, lowering it down. Rotate the vent solenoid counterclockwise to remove it from the canister. To remove the EVAP canister, disconnect the hoses and remove it. For the fuel tank pressure sensor, raise the vehicle and place it securely on jackstands. Remove the fuel tank and disconnect the electrical connector from the sensor. Use two screwdrivers to pry under the sensor and rock it out of the fuel pump module. Installation is the reverse of removal for all components.

Q:
What is the role of the fuel evaporative emissions control (EVAP) system,Purge Valve,Fuel Pressure Sensor and Canister for Chevrolet Colorado and GMC Canyon? Posted by Customer
A:
The fuel evaporative emissions control (EVAP) system plays a vital role in managing fuel vapors from the fuel tank, releasing them into the engine intake system during engine operation. Key components include the canister, which contains activated charcoal to absorb fuel vapors, the purge valve, vent valve, fuel tank pressure sensor, fuel tank, and various vapor and purge lines. Fuel tank vapor, after passing through a check valve, is directed to the charcoal canister, where the charcoal absorbs and stores the vapors. The PCM (Powertrain Control Module) opens the purge and vent valves under specific conditions, allowing fuel vapors from the canister to be drawn into the intake manifold and combustion chamber for consumption. The PCM regulates the vapor flow rate through the EVAP purge valve control solenoid, cycling it on and off, optimizing purge based on engine conditions. During cold start-up, the system performs a self-diagnostic check, creating a vacuum in the EVAP system to detect leaks, and the PCM monitors the fuel tank pressure sensor voltage for potential issues. The fuel tank pressure sensor, similar to a MAP sensor, supplies a signal voltage to the PCM that corresponds to the air pressure within the fuel tank. Component replacement procedures involve disconnecting quick-connect fittings, cleaning the area, and removing mounting bolts, hoses, and electrical connectors. The EVAP canister, purge valve, vent valve, and fuel tank pressure sensor can be replaced following specific removal and installation steps. It's important to note that the evaporative emissions control system is protected by a federally-mandated warranty.
