Ensure the airbag clockspring is centered and the steering wheel is aligned with the index mark on the shaft. Tighten the steering wheel nut to the proper torque, install the airbag module, and enable the airbag system.

To remove the steering wheel, start by parking the vehicle with the wheels pointing straight ahead and disconnecting the battery. Disable the airbag system and then remove the airbag module by inserting a thin round tool into the holes on each side of the steering wheel. Gently pull the airbag module towards you while releasing the retainer. Disconnect the electrical connectors and remove the airbag module. Detach the clockspring wire harness and disconnect the electrical connector for the steering wheel switches. Note the index mark on the steering wheel hub and the steering shaft, ensuring they are in the 12 o'clock position. Remove the steering wheel nut and lift the steering wheel off the shaft, using a two-jaw puller if necessary. If needed, remove the clockspring by removing the upper and lower steering column covers, snap ring, and disconnecting the electrical connectors. To install the clockspring, make sure the wheels are straight ahead and the steering shaft is in the 12 o'clock position. Center the clockspring by rotating it clockwise until it stops, then counterclockwise about 2-1/2 turns to align the small arrows. The rest of the installation is the reverse of removal, ensuring the airbag clockspring is centered and the steering wheel is aligned with the index mark on the shaft. Tighten the steering wheel nut to the proper torque, install the airbag module, and enable the airbag system.
