If the A/C Switch is replaced, a special scan tool is required to program the replacement unit. First, disconnect the cable from the negative battery terminal. On 2015 and earlier 2.0L models and all 2.5L models, remove the center trim panel around the radio, heater and air conditioning control assembly using a trim stick. Also, remove the center console left and right extension panels. Remove the instrument panel trim plate fasteners and remove the trim plate from the bottom of the instrument panel and top of the floor console. On 2016 and later 1.5L and 2.0L models, remove the instrument panel right side center trim panel using a trim stick. On 2015 and earlier 2.0L models and all 2.5L models, remove the A/C Switch fasteners and pull out the control unit. On 2016 and later 1.5L and 2.0L models, use a trim stick to pry the A/C Switch out enough to disengage the clips and pull out the control unit. Disconnect the electrical connectors on the back of the control assembly and remove the assembly. Installation is the reverse of removal.
