To remove the engine oil cooler, start by disconnecting the cable from the negative battery terminal and draining the cooling system. Then, remove the upper and lower intake manifolds, intake manifold spacer, and coolant crossover housing. Next, remove the inlet and return lines from the oil cooler and raise the vehicle to secure it on jackstands. Remove the oil filter and oil filter housing, as well as the crankshaft sensor. Disconnect the oil cooler inlet and return lines from the engine block and lower the vehicle. Remove the oil cooler inlet and outlet nuts, oil cooler cover retaining bolts, and the oil cooler cover itself. Lift the oil cooler off the engine block and clean the area around the engine block and cylinder head. For installation, start by installing the engine oil cooler and new o-rings onto the engine block. Apply RTV sealant to the perimeter of the oil cooler cover and allow it to set up before installing the cover. Tighten the cover bolts in sequence and install the engine oil cooler inlet and outlet nuts. Connect the inlet and outlet oil cooler pipes and raise the vehicle to support it on jackstands. Install the oil cooler lines into the block above the oil filter housing and tighten the fittings securely. Finally, complete the remaining installation steps in reverse order, reconnect the battery, refill the cooling system, run the engine, and check for leaks.
