- A:Apply the parking brake, raise the vehicle and support it securely on jackstands. For the front bumper, remove the pin retainers from the inner fender splash shield at the bumper cover. To release the pin retainer, lift up on the center section using a panel tool or screwdriver then pry the retainer out. Working below the bumper, remove the pin retainers from the lower section of the bumper cover and the radiator support structure. Remove the pin retainers from the upper section of the bumper cover. Disconnect the fog lamp electrical connector. Remove the bumper cover from the fender. Some models are equipped with pin retainers while other models use a locking tab to retain the bumper cover to the fender. Remove the energy absorber from the front bumper. Remove the bumper mounting nuts. Remove the front bumper. Installation is the reverse of removal. For the rear bumper, open the lift gate. On wagons, remove the pin retainers on the top of the bumper cover next to the tail light. Remove the pin retainers from the rear bumper extension. Remove the pin retainers from the inner fender splash shield. Pull the splash shield away from the rear bumper area. Remove the rear bumper cover mounting screws from the quarter panel. Detach the rear bumper cover locking tabs from the quarter panel. Remove the energy absorber from the rear bumper. Remove the rear bumper mounting nuts.
