- Q:How to remove and install an alternator? Posted by Customer
- A:Disconnect the cable from the negative battery terminal.Remove the air intake duct.Remove the accessory drivebelt.Disconnect the electrical connectors from the alternator.Remove the alternator mounting bolts.Installation is the reverse of removal. Tighten the alternator mounting bolts to the torque listed in the Specifications.When the battery has been disconnected, the PCM must relearn its former driveability and performance characteristics.Disconnect the cable from the negative battery terminal.Remove the accessory drivebelt and the drivebelt tensioner.Remove the upper alternator mounting bolts.Raise the front of the vehicle and place it securely on jackstands.Turn the wheels to the right to provide access to the lower alternator mounting bolt.Remove the lower alternator mounting bolt.Pull the alternator away from the engine block far enough to disconnect the electrical connectors from the alternator.Remove the alternator.Installation is the reverse of removal.
