To remove the hub and bearing assembly, start by loosening the front wheel lug nuts and raising the vehicle on jackstands. Remove the wheel and, if working on a 4WD model, remove the hub cover and unscrew the driveaxle/hub nut. Use a prybar or screwdriver to prevent the hub from turning as the nut is loosened. Next, remove the brake caliper and hang it out of the way with wire, then remove the caliper mounting bracket and pull the disc off the hub. Remove the wheel speed sensor from the hub and then remove the hub retaining bolts from the steering knuckle. Finally, remove the hub from the steering knuckle, and if working on a 4WD model, pull the assembly off the driveaxle splines. To install the hub and bearing assembly, start by cleaning the mating surfaces on the steering knuckle, bearing flange, and knuckle bore. Insert the hub and bearing assembly into the steering knuckle, and on 4WD models, onto the end of the driveaxle. Position the disc shield and install the bolts, tightening them to the specified torque. Insert the ABS wheel speed sensor into its hole in the hub and tighten the bolt to the specified torque. Install the brake disc, caliper mounting bracket, and caliper. On 4WD models, install the hub nut and tighten it to the specified torque, using a screwdriver through the caliper to prevent the axle from turning. Finally, install the hub cover, lower the vehicle, and tighten the lug nuts to the specified torque.
