- A:To replace the fuel rail assembly, start by removing the distributor and upper intake manifold. Disconnect the fuel supply and return lines from the fuel rail, remove the fuel line bracket bolt, and detach the fuel line from the bracket. Disconnect the fuel injector wiring harness from each injector and set the harness aside. Remove all five fuel rail retaining bolts, disconnect the vacuum line at the fuel pressure regulator, and carefully lift the fuel rail up to detach the injectors from the intake manifold ports. Remove the injectors from the fuel rail by removing the injector retaining clip and pulling the injector out. Discard the injector retaining clips and O-rings, and install new ones on reassembly. Lubricate each new O-ring with clean engine oil and install them onto the injectors. Install the injectors onto the fuel rail and retain them with a new retaining clip. Install the complete fuel rail assembly onto the manifold, making sure the injector electrical connectors face outward.Posted by GMPartsGiant Specialist
