    Q:
How to remove and install the rear Steering Knuckle assembly on Cadillac CTS? Posted by Customer
    A:
To remove the wheel, first loosen the lug nuts, raise the vehicle, and support it securely on jackstands before taking off the wheel. Next, loosen the driveaxle/hub nut. Remove the brake caliper without disconnecting the hose, along with the caliper mounting bracket and brake disc. Disconnect the brake hose from the strut and hang the caliper from the coil spring using a piece of wire, ensuring it does not hang by the brake hose. For models from 2007 or earlier, disconnect the wheel speed sensor electrical connector and free the harness from any retaining clips; for 2008 or later models, remove the wheel speed sensor from the knuckle. Disconnect the parking brake bracket and cable, then support the lower control arm with a floor jack placed under the spring pocket, keeping the jack in this position throughout the procedure. Separate the upper control arm balljoint from the knuckle and detach the toe-link arm from the knuckle. Remove the shock absorber lower mounting bolt, the lower control arm to knuckle boltnut, and the trailing arm to knuckle bolt nut. Remove the driveaxle/hub nut and push the driveaxle from the hub while removing the knuckle and hub assembly, supporting the end of the driveaxle with a piece of wire. For installation, guide the knuckle and hub assembly into position, inserting the driveaxle into the hub. Connect the upper balljoint to the knuckle without tightening the fasteners yet. Reconnect the shock absorber, lower control arm, trailing arm, and toe-link arm, then raise the suspension to simulate normal ride height and tighten the suspension fasteners to the specified torque values. Place the brake disc on the hub, install the disc-locating fastener, and install the caliper. Install the driveaxle/hub nut and tighten it to the specified torque. Finally, install the wheel and lug nuts, lower the vehicle, and tighten the lug nuts to the specified torque, ensuring to have the wheel alignment checked and adjusted if necessary.
