Q:
How do you remove the front stabilizer bar and link? Posted by Customer
A:
To remove the sway bar kit, start by loosening the front wheel lug nuts and raising the front of the vehicle on jackstands. Remove the front wheels and unbolt the intermediate driveaxle shaft bracket from the subframe. If it's an all-wheel drive model, remove the rear driveshaft. Detach the sway bar link from the strut or bar by holding the ballstud with a wrench and unscrewing the nut. Then, detach the tie-rod ends from the steering knuckle. Support the rear of the subframe with floor jacks and remove the subframe rear reinforcement bolts. Loosen the subframe front reinforcement bolts and the subframe front mounting bolts. Loosen the subframe rear mounting bolts and slowly lower the floor jacks while backing out the rear bolts. Remove the bolts and detach the sway bar kit bushing retainer. Inspect and replace the bushings if necessary. Clean the bushing area of the sway bar kit with a wire brush and lubricate the new bushings with vegetable oil. For installation, reverse the removal steps and tighten the fasteners to the specified torque values. Raise the subframe using floor jacks and tighten the mounting bolts in the proper order. Finally, install the wheels and tighten the lug nuts to the specified torque.
