- A:Most electric rearview mirrors use two motors to adjust the glass, one for up and down movements and one for left-right adjustments. To troubleshoot any issues with the mirrors, start by operating the mirror control switch through all functions for both the left and right side mirrors while listening for the sound of the electric motors running. If the motors can be heard but the mirror glass doesn't move, there may be a problem with the drive mechanism inside the mirror. In this case, check the fuse and if it's okay, have the mirror control switch continuity checked. Ensure that the mirror is properly grounded. If the mirror still doesn't work, remove it and check the wires for voltage. If there's no voltage in each switch position, check the circuit between the mirror and control switch for opens and shorts. If there is voltage, remove the mirror and test it off the vehicle with jumper wires. If it fails this test, the mirror should be replaced.Posted by GMPartsGiant Specialist
