- A:For models from 1996 to 2000, the knock sensor module is located in the PCM. To replace it, remove the PCM and the knock sensor module cover. Pinch the retaining tabs and pull the knock sensor straight up to remove it. To install the knock sensor module, align the tabs with the notches on the socket and press down until the retaining tabs click into place.
