Q:
How do you remove a radiator? Posted by Customer
A:
To remove the radiator, start by draining the cooling system and saving the coolant if it's still in good condition. Then, remove the engine cooling fan assembly and disconnect the upper and lower radiator hoses, as well as the coolant reservoir overflow hose. Detach the air guides from the sides of the radiator and remove the air filter housing air inlet duct. Disconnect the transaxle fluid cooler lines from the radiator and, if necessary, remove the air filter housing for additional clearance. Pinch the fastening tabs at the top of the condenser to disconnect it from the radiator, then carefully lift the condenser and separate it from the radiator. Lift the radiator from behind the condenser to remove it from the vehicle. Inspect the radiator for leaks or damage and have it repaired if necessary. Bugs and dirt can be removed by spraying the radiator with a garden hose nozzle from the back side, and it should be flushed out before installation. Check the rubber mounts on the bottom of the radiator for wear and replace them if needed. To install a new radiator, transfer any components from the old radiator to the new one, specifically the side air deflectors. Carefully guide the radiator into position, ensuring the rubber mounts are properly seated. Insert the bottom of the condenser into the lower mounts on the radiator and clip the top of the condenser into place. Fill the cooling system with the appropriate mixture of antifreeze and water, then start the engine and check for leaks. Allow the engine to reach normal operating temperature and recheck the coolant level. Finally, check the transaxle fluid and add more if necessary.
