- A:The HVAC Pressure Switch is used to monitor excessively high and low system pressures and will prevent the system from operating if either condition occurs. The HVAC Pressure Switch is threaded onto a Schrader valve, so it is not necessary to discharge the air conditioning system to replace it. To remove it, first remove the front bumper cover. Then, unplug the electrical connector from the switch, which is located at the lower right corner of the condenser. Unscrew the switch from the Schrader valve, using a back-up wrench on the fitting for the switch. Be sure to discard the old sealing O-rings to prevent leaks and plug all open lines and fittings to prevent contamination of the air conditioning system. To install, lubricate the new O-rings with compatible refrigerant oil and screw the new switch onto the threads, tightening it securely.
